When Septics Fail
When performing a septic dye test dye is introduced into the system thru a toilet. Then water is then ran into the system to send the dye into the septic tank and drain field. If the system is performing properly no dye will appear anywhere on or near the property. If dye is observed anywhere other than in the tank the system fails. Possible causes for a failure could be clogged pipes or drain field, a lack of a drain field or soil condition not adequate for a drain field. If this occurs a sewage enforcement officer and/or a septic system contractor will need to be consulted.
