Well Flow Testing
Well flow testing is done to evaluate whether the well is capable of supplying enough water for the needs of the occupants. Water is ran thru a water meter at 4 gpm (galons. per minutes) for 15 minutes. The well pump is then rested for 15 minutes and then ran for 15 minutes again. This cycle continues for 4 hours. unless the well production runs low or out. If this occurs, the well is rested for 30 minutes. Water is then ran until production again runs low or out. This amount is divided by 30 for the gpm recovery rate for the well. A recovery rate of 3-4 gpm is good, 2 gpm or less is poor. You would need to check with your lender in regard to their specific requirements.
